Hempen are a brand that bring music to eco-warrior ears. Why? Well, they have a wide selection of oils available and are incredibly strict about sourcing where their hemp comes from. As a company they're actively working with UK farmers to support the UK hemp trade and aim to have as low of an environmental impact on the world as they can. They're also associated with the land-workers alliance and the soil association.
The majority of their range includes all the natural goodness of the hemp plant via their full spectrum formulas, rather than filtering out and isolating the CBD. As a result you benefit from all the minerals and cannabinoids present in the plant which can further help reduce a wide range of symptoms such as pain or inflammation. Did I notice that? Yes. But I'll go into more detail later on in this review.
When you first open this bottle of CBD oil you'll notice two things; the fact that it's a lovely dark green colour and that it has what I consider to be a sweet and pleasant hemp smell. It's strong and indicative of how chockablock of natural goodness this oil is. Being raw, it does have a strong hemp taste to it but it's not bitter or overwhelming; if it's not your favourite taste then I will say that it immediately washes away with a glass of water. Each drop contains 5mg of CBD and I would have 4 drops in the morning and 4 again the evening before I went to bed, totalling 40mg.
By pure coincidence I started this when I was having a phantom period and I'm fairly certain my levels of pain would have been significantly worse had I not been taking this daily. Most noticeably, I found that this oil helped with both my uterine cramping and stabbing ovary pain as well as helping to reduce my pain from waking me up during the night.
Overall, I have to say that I was really impressed by this oil, especially due to the company's ethos.
Hempen Refined Organic 1000mg CBD Oil is £56.99 for 10ml.
