Minkki™ Full Brief Super Plus 60ml Period Pants Review

For those of you who have been following my journey for a while now, you'll know that for the last five years I have been mostly period free due to my Mirena IUD (seriously, a game changer for me) but last week by uterus decided to rebel and cause some serious issues whilst reminding me just how awful periods can be.

But before we talk about Minkki's full brief super plus period pants, let me set up the scene for you. In my complacency I had stopped keeping my bathroom well stocked with menstrual health products and naively thought that my uterine cramps were endometriosis related rather than my body trying to force a period.

How wrong I was.

Over 24 hours I had one of the worst periods I've had in a long, longgggg time. Within an hour I had soaked through a night-time sanitary towel and a super tampon and quite frankly was having a meltdown whilst lying on the bathroom floor, praying that the bleeding settled by the time I got into bed.

And then I remembered that I had been sent two pairs of Minkki's period underwear. Now I will hold my hand up and say I've never used period underwear before so I have nothing to compare them with but I can tell you this... I was really, really impressed by them. These bad boys got me through a night of passing blood clots with no leakage whatsoever after 8 hours (not even onto the pair of underwear strapped up with another night-time sanitary pad which I had layered over the top just to be on the safe side). And whilst my sleep was more disrupted out of fear that I'd leaked, I needn't have worried.

I mean, that's pretty freaking impressive.

I absolutely loved that the protection/absorbency pads of these extends from the front to the back and that they're high-waisted. There's no rolling of the fabric, the waistband didn't dig into my incision scars and when I wore them during the day, there wasn't any serious visible panty line either. The fabric itself reminds me a little of what swimming costumes are made out of which makes sense considering these bad boys have a waterproof layer to them.

Technically speaking, these have an odour proof layer, waterproof layer, super absorbent layer and they are moisture wicking. Even with my ridiculously heavy flow, these didn't feel sodden or damp which was great. They also didn't feel like a nappy which I know some brands do.

According to their website, these knickers can hold 60ml of fluid which is the equivalent of 10 regular tampons/pads, 4 super plus tampons or 2 menstrual cups worth of fluid and I definitely think they live up to that claim.

I also love they they have a wide range of sizes, starting at a UK 6 and go all the way up to a UK 26 as well as having a 3 year guarantee and the option to try them risk free for 60 days. Can you tell I'm impressed? Because I really, really am. Well done, Minkki!
