This is got to be one of my most requested reviews and considering I've been relying on this bad boy heavily over the last few weeks, it seemed an appropriate time to sit down and write it. That and I think it's safe to say that the YuYu bottle is treasured within the endometriosis community and by those of us who struggle with painful gynaecological problems in general. I've had mine for a year now and I can honestly say that I can't live without it.
I don't feel the need to go into detail about how heat therapy helps with gynaecological and sciatic pain (or any other type of pain for that matter) but I can hear you ask; what makes it so special?
Well for a start when you compare it to a standard hot water bottle, the YuYu better distributes heat. Rather than restricting the heat to a small area, the YuYu is 81cm long and as a result provides better heat distribution via it's larger surface area. Plus, it doesn't require countless trips to the kettle to fill it up; the design of the YuYu means that it has the same water capacity as a standard hot water bottle! Seriously, one kettle full and you're ready to go.
Secondly, the YuYu provides wrap-around heat like a big, warm, cozy hug and that you can tie it around yourself like a belt. For me, this means no more trying to shove a hot water bottle into the waistband of my trousers and hoping it stays put. For the most part, I tie my YuYu around my lower back and pelvis but during really bad flares I will also spoon it. It's come with me to work, on holiday and even to hospital when I was having my second laparoscopy.
Now don't get me wrong, there are similar products on the market but I can honestly say that the YuYu quite rightly claims the title of being the original long hot water bottle and the best. No other long bottle manages to stay as warm for as long, successfully remains tied up or feels as high quality. Plus, if you're an eco-warrior like me, the YuYu uses biodegradable natural rubber and contains no nasty chemicals or dyes.
